Today we’re out and about with Gaja, we’ve given her 70 Euros to buy all the products she’ll need for her chosen look. She’s decided to go for an intense Instagram look which is a step away from our most frequent tutorials so we’re looking forward to getting started. So, products chosen let’s head back to the studio and see how they work out.
Step 1: Don’t dry out
Pupa Made To Last Foundation is first up. It’s drying out quite quickly so we’ve mixed it with some moisturiser to keep Gaja’s skin hydrated.
Step 2: Ooops
The eyeshadow is dropping a lot from the brush, so it might have been better applied with by fingertip rather than the brush. It’s a great colour but could be a little more intense.
Step 3: Change of plan
We wanted to do a vampy makeup but now we’re under the studio lights we realised we’d lose Gaja’s lovely natural glow. Instead, we’re going for a lighter finish that be more fitting for her.
We’re applying a black line just into the corners of her eyes close to the lashes on both the upper and lower lids which will lift them, also a little black pencil into the water line in the corners.
Step 4: Brows
Thicken the brows with a pencil
and then brush through to ensure it’s blended well to give a natural finish.
Next, to the cheeks and upper forehead we’re just lightly brushing over some Misslyn Beach Please with a large soft brush this will just round her face a little. This is a great product and can be used for contouring as well because it’s not dark.
Step 5: Lashes and lips
We’ll ditch the lashes we bought earlier and instead just go with the mascara instead and apply it to the upper and lower lashes.
The lipgloss is also being pushed aside as it’s not right for the finish we now have in mind. This butter-gloss pink shimmer to the lips is a much better option and it’s hydrating too.
So, lessons learned from today would be; try products before you buy them. It can be tricky to decide under the bright lights of shops but you should get a better idea of how a product feels when it’s applied. Also, keep and open mind when you’re applying makeup, as we saw today our end result was not what we initially had in mind. If something’s not quite working out then don’t be afraid to try something else. The most important thing is that you’re comfortable with the finished look. And we definitely are with Gaja’s today. Let us know what you think.
