You don't always need to apply a full face of makeup. A little bit of creativity will take your look a long way. This time we were playing with lilac eyeliner that is a perfect fit for all eye colors.
Step 1: It’s all in the prep work
If you suffer from redness to your skin then a green neutralizer is a great way of covering such areas. Apply a thin layer to the nose and beneath the eyes and blend with a brush. Make sure it has dried completely before applying any further makeup.
Step 2: Opposites attract
Once the neutralizer has dried, tap over the whole face with a compact powder using a large, soft brush.
Using a concealer draw beneath the eyes and blend with a tapping motion with your fingertip. Because we have already applied a foundation powder this is a great way of ensuring that the concealer will stick and hold in place for hours.
Pro tip: Applying a concealer before the foundation powder just doesn’t have the same staying power.
Step 3: Taking things to a new dimension
Bring some colour to the face by bronzing over the forehead and cheeks. This won’t work as contouring would but it will give more dimension to the features. Apply to the outer cheeks, further back towards the ears.
As Maša has rounded cheeks we’ll just apply blusher to the upper cheeks so it almost joins the eyes. This gorgeous pink shade will compliment the eyeliner that we’re going to use and really make those eyes pop.
Step 4: Photoshop the face
Colour the brows lightly with a pencil to fill any thinner areas. Avoid going to heavy as we’re going for a more natural look here.
With a small brush, tap over any blemishes with a concealer, use as little as possible and just gently sweep over where it’s needed. This is a great trick to smooth over any imperfections.
Step 5: Ah, lovely lilac
Apply a line of eyeliner to the upper eyelid. Start in the corner and only go to where the crease breaks, going beyond that point and it just won’t work. We’re using lilac liner here to complement Maša’s turquoise eyes and really make them stand out.
Pro tip: We say this alot but it’s an important point to remember. You can easily ruin a great look by taking the liner too far!
Step 6: A cold and warm combo
Brush a natural shade of pink to the lips. As lilac is considered a cold colour and we’ve used it on the eyes, we’re keeping the lips more in tune with the natural skin tone by using a warmer shade of lipstick, this will also help to make the eyes pop.
Finish by applying mascara to the upper lashes, keep it light so as not to spoil this more natural look.
