/ deep set eyes

Should your makeup match your personality?

This dark queen look for deep set eyes is perfect for those days when you feel like your makeup must match your brooding thoughts, or when you want to step up your game for a night out. Find the details for this intense look below.

Eyes

Use a black kohl pencil to line your lower and upper lash line. Pushing the eyes back visually might seem like a big fat no-no when your eyes are already deep set, but trust me on this. It. Will. Work.

You don't have to be very precise on the upper lid, because you will blend it all out anyway. Start blending the upper line with downwards strokes to avoid the mess.

Then pack a dark (black or dark grey/brown) color all over the lid with a flat brush. It might look too intense at this point, but don't worry, this will actually serve as a base for further eyeshadow application.

Swirl a fluffy brush into a burnt orange eyeshadow and blend it into the crease. The black shade should blend seamlessly into the orange.
dark-look-6-1
To create a subtle gradient, choose a lighter orange color and apply it slightly above the burnt orange shade, blending as you go.
dark-look-7-8-1
For a rainbow effect, apply a shimmery (or even holographic) violet shade over the black. The black base will make the violet much more intense, which is actually the point of this look. Because it's a shimmery shade, it will bring the eyes forward while keeping the look dark and dramatic. Light-handedly, apply a bit of the violet shade also along the lower lash line.
dark-look-9-10-1
Go in with a volumizing mascara both on the lower and upper lashes and, last but not least, fill in your eyebrows to your liking.

Skin

In the video tutorial, we used a full-coverage foundation to create a completely blank canvas, but you can definitely apply something lighter and more natural-looking if that's your jam. Either way, make sure to blend the edges properly with a foundation brush or a beauty blender.

This look can take heavier contouring, so make your angles pop! Apply matte contouring powder under your cheekbones and blend it nicely. Because the full-coverage foundation concealed all signs of life on your face, you mustn't forget the blush! Apply a natural rosy shade on the apples of the cheeks.

Lips

A lipstick can completely change a makeup look, and it's no different here. If you're going for the Queen-from-the-Darkness look, start by lining the lips with a burgundy red lip liner and apply a lipstick in the same shade. If this is too much for you, just use a more natural pinkish-colored lipstick. Choose what makes you feel confident and don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone every now and then.
