Well, it was bound to happen and some even say it should have happened a while ago, so at last, here it is: a short introduction of the AMS team.
Meet the people that make sure you get the best quality makeup content possible, the people who try to make the information accessible through words and images, and last, but not least, the individuals who tie it all together, the whip crackers, also known as "managers". 🙄
In case you haven't seen the accompanying video featuring our very own Jure, be sure to watch it as he explains a bit about our team building event and even spills the beans on a surprise we were working on, a new youtube channel with a different format of the content you've grown to love.
With that out of the way, let's get on with the introductions.
Let's start off with Nina, our video editor, who spends most her time assembling recorded footage into a finished project, something that's presentable to the world, something we, as a team, can be proud of.
When asked about the work she does, this is what she had to say:
"Its a great job, because you start out with a mess and end up with a wonderful finished product that makes people happy. And the big bonus of it all is that I get free tips and ideas for my daily make up."
Free tips? Those were not part of the deal, we'll need to have a word about that!
Next in our list is the other Nina, our wordsmith and pun enthusiast. She writes some of the blog posts that help you become as fabulous on the outside as you are on the inside.
"I am into all kinds of creative shenanigans, and this (hopefully) translates into my writing. Thanks for reading!"
Thank you, Nina, for your effort... Just don't let it go to your head!
While on the subject of words, writing, and text, it makes sense to continue with Sara, our other content writer and translator here at AMS.
She is committed to providing super awesome, grammatically correct (her words) blog posts for our site and sharing her love for most things makeup-related. Being a person who strives to improve her language and makeup skills, she majored in English and Russian, so writing and translating is her bread and butter.
"I live in Slovenia, but I'll soon be relocating to the (freezing) land of Putin where I'll be brushing up on my Russian. I like to dedicate my free time to obsessing over skincare, reading in my cozy spot and experimenting in the kitchen."
We know what to get her when she does move: warm mittens and ski socks.
Have you noticed the illustrations we use in the posts on this website? Many of those are made by Teja, our illustrator, and most of the rest were created using her templates.
Teja has a lot on her plate lately, with all the illustrations on our site, her own film project, education, ..., which is why she wrote the following:
"I, Teja, of sound mind, authorise Goran to write something about me"
Oh, Teja, we love you, but that might not have been a wise move 😈
Imagine the stereotypical artist: a bit weird, but in a lovely way; a bit clumsy, but always elegant; shy, but outspoken; messy, but gets things done... eventually
The team wouldn't be the same without her.
Staying in the illustration section of our project, we find Metka, our second illustrator. She loves to start her day off with a cup of coffee, and wind down with a good movie or an episode of her favourite TV show (for some reason she didn't share what show that is).
She expresses the information we try to communicate to you with visual cues that better explain the techniques used in our videos. She uses Photoshop and Illustrator (both software from Adobe) to create many of the illustrations found in our blog posts.
"I hope that my work helps you bring the best version of yourself to fruition."
Your work is great, Metka, now stop reading, there's more to do!
Ah yes, Maja, our project manager, whose main job is protecting everybody else from the main whip cracker.
She makes sure projects move along, that videos get uploaded and released on time, that all tasks linked to individual projects get done, and overall communicates with all members of the team, making sure everyone has enough work to keep them from getting bored.
"Makeup is my passion! Since I can remember, I've been a big fan of makeup and everything related. That's why I love working on this project, and to top it off, I get to work with amazing people from whom I learn something new almost every single day."
We love working with you too, Maja 😉
The person best known to our regular viewers (and readers) is of course Jure, the founder of AMS, and, for the time being, the main makeup artist. (which is not likely to change anytime soon, but don't tell him that, he has crazy ideas about vacations... pffft)
Jure has been the head makeup artist for brands like Maxfactor, Kanebo, Lancome and Yves Saint Laurent; has worked in Londons Harrods, Selfridges and Fenwick. Now, of course, he leads the creative part of AdviseMyStyle, worshipping the individuality and uniqueness of women all around the world.
He sees makeup as a tool that helps you become the best version of yourself, rather than hide your heart and soul behind a mask.
We tricked Jure into writing down a short personal description of himself:
"As a modern man I know how to cook and clean and also do my own laundry. I adore windsurfing and skiing, but when my friend Lazy visits me once per month, we just sit on the couch and chat for hours."
It's possible Jure was filling out a personal profile on a different site and the descriptions got mixed up, we'll never know. 😇
And at the end of this list, the only one left is myself, Goran. (Jure and I decided this article shouldn't be written by our usual keyboard bangers).
As Jure has mentioned a couple of times already, I'm a software developer with some organisational skills and a feel for the business side of projects, including makeup related projects, it seems. 😅
I'm the co-founder and CTO of AMS, and as such take care of the technological part of things, making sure everything runs smoothly, both the technology as well as the overall workflow. I'm the one who might (affectionately) be called "the main whip cracker", the one who makes stuff happen.
"An all round geek, I've been programming since the age of 12, I love taking things apart, just to learn the inner workings, love it even more if I can put them back together and they work again. That last part almost never happens... oh, I used to DJ (a lot), love scuba diving, and have taken up flying FPV racing quadcopters"
Boredom is definitely not a part of my life.
I hope it's obvious I like to kid around. The AMS team is made up of awesome individuals, who do their very best to help and make our ideas a reality. Without them the project would be much harder to run and would be much less of a joy to work on, which is why I'd like to thank each and every one of them.
If you would like to know more about the team or the work we do, do let us know in the comments section below, and we'll add more content like this in the future.
