New Year's Eve is right around t'he corner and if you still haven't decided what your makeup look for the occasion will be, you've come to the right place. What's even better than festive makeup is festive makeup that stays in place and we've got you covered for that as well. Buy some glitter in vivid colors at the art supply store and follow the tutorial below!
Eyes will be the star of this statement makeup look. To create an even canvas for your further creations, prime your lids with a concealer or, alternatively, a proper eyeshadow primer. Take a bright blue matte eyeshadow with a good color payoff, such as the one from ZOEVA Retrofuture eyeshadow palette, and line your upper lid right above the lash line with it. Finish the line with a flick at the crease. This thin layer of eyeshadow will lock everything in even better. Now pick up some eyelash glue and apply it where you applied the blue eyeshadow – just follow the shape. Use the nozzle if it's precise enough, otherwise it's better to use a small, stiff brush.
Here comes the glitter! Take a slightly thicker brush so you'll be able to pack on a lot of glitter without constantly dipping into the pot. Follow the shape of the blue eyeshadow/glue and tap on the bright blue glitter. Don't be skimpy with it – the skin underneath this sparkly eyeliner masterpiece should not be visible.
Pro tip: When picking out glitter, use a color that is complementary to the color of your eyes to make them stand out. This means that green eyes go with violet, pink or wine-colored glitter, brown eyes with lavender, royal blue or turquoise, and blue eyes with gold or copper glitter.
There will be some fallout during the application process, so take all the precautions necessary to avoid getting glitter all over your party clothes. Take a look at the video tutorial to see how we’ve managed it. Wait a few minutes for the glue and glitter to dry completely. If you'll be using false eyelashes, stick them on beforehand.
Put a few coats of mascara first on the lower lashes and then on the upper ones as well. Finish the eyes by filling in your eyebrows. Since this is a bold party look, you can use a heavier hand on the brows.
Apply foundation, concealer (where needed) and mattify the oily areas with some loose mineral powder. Contour the top of your forehead and under the cheekbones to get that chiseled look. Keep everything else simple and natural and let the eyes take the center stage that night. Some rosy blush on the cheeks and a my-lips-but-better shade of lipstick will round off this look perfectly.
