This simple makeup for LIGHT BROWN skin will blow your mind

This is one of my first makeup tutorials for darker skin tones, so I decided to go back to basics. I created this simple, no-nonsense-technique-needed makeup look for a light brown skin tone. I think it’s perfect if you want to look flawless and natural at the same time.

First things first – the foundation

I know you see a lot of color correcting on YouTube, but if you have light brown skin and you get the foundation right, your makeup is already on point. I used NYX Stay Matte Not Flat foundation in this video, but honestly it’s rubbish. Find what works for YOU and don’t just blindly follow recommendations you see on YouTube.

Prep the eyelid

Set the eyelid with a powdery brown eyeshadow that is slightly darker than your skin color. This will counteract the oiliness and the pencil will then stick on better. Blend it out into the brow with a shade slightly lighter than your skin tone.

Sunset on your eyes

This is where the magic happens. First use a purplish pencil to outline the upper lid and blend it out. Follow this step by applying a purplish eyeshadow over the lower half of the upper lid to intensify the color of the pencil.

Now blend an orange eyeshadow above the purple into the crease to create a lovely gradient and fill in the eyebrows.

It kinda reminds me of a sunset – so pretty!

Adjust the rest of the colors on your face to compliment the eye makeup

Apply the blush in a shade that will match the orange on the eyes and make them pop (YSL Kiss&Blush shade 10 works wonderfully). For the lips I suggest brown shades so that the lips won’t take the attention away from the eyes. I used Laura Mercier lip pencil in a chestnut shade and the shade Dulce De Leche for the lipstick.

Lift the eyes

Use mascara ONLY on the upper lashes. This will lift the eye and make the look more elegant. Apply a waterproof pencil in a NUDE shade in the lower waterline to brighten the eyes.

Clean the under-eye area with a sponge and then apply a concealer in a triangle shape under the eyes. I used YSL Touche Eclat ‘cause it doesn’t get better than this. Mattify the face where needed with mineral loose powder and you’re done!
